Trans-Border Economic Cooperation such as the World Trade Organization (WTO), ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA) and Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) has created a system of free trade. Consequently, transactions of goods and services will be across the boundaries of a State. Indeed, the national economy of a country should be prepared for the invasion of the goods or services from foreign countries.
In order to compete and survive in the current economic climate, quality is becomes a major benchmark. As a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Indonesia should be focus to the issue of standardization in their regulations
Grateful, Indonesia is one of the countries where economic activity is really focused on quality standard. Some of industries have implemented the ISO 9000 series, and supported by the presence of calibration agency in accordance with ISO / IEC 17025: 2005.
Calibration agency are helpful for the industry to keeping their quality product by providing clear information about the accuracy and precision measuring equipment which used in the production process and inspection process.
With the presence of calibration institution, we are expected to enhanced product quality which aligned with quality standard; therefore the global market will be consuming our good product.
In simple words Calibration is the process or act of checking the correctness of a measuring instrument by comparing the measures with another similar instrument that serves as a standard. Hence calibrating is one of the best methods to check the accuracy of a scientific instrument. The device or instrument with which the other instrument is compared and corrected is called as standard instrument while the device or instrument that is compared to the standard instrument is known as test instrument or test device.
The most important thing in the activities of the calibration is traceability of measurement, where each process in the calibration must have an unbroken chain to the International Unit. In each chain there is a calibration of the measurement uncertainty of the values that guide the quality of measurements.
Product quality, produced from an accurate instrument. ” Think Accurate , Think Calibration.”
